tokyo-magnitude-7-aThe 7th episode from the Tokyo Magnitude series entitled “Summer Evening” is all about the robots. Rescue robots have been deployed all around Tokyo to help search and rescue any survivors. Yukki, of course is full of joy and finds a boy named Kento who loves Robots even more than Yuuki himself. He finds Kento sketching robots and making notes about them, and the 2 hit it off right from the start. Kento knows everything about the Robots from how they work, how they’re controlled and what each Robots purpose is.

As we know it doesn’t take much to excite Yuuki, but he is on fire this episode. Kento gives the Yuuki one of his sketches as a parting gift before they separate. Not sure if from the intense heat, or the excitement over the robots, (or the combination of both) but Yuuki get’s really sick and falls to his knees. Mari goes to find him some medicine, and Mirai throws a wet towel over his head and leads him to some shade. They chill out for about 5 min before Yuukie see’s Kento again, this time chasing after the probing Robots. Yuukie suddenly feels fine and chases after Kento and they talk about Robots some more. Mirai thinks Kento is a huge loser, until he explains that he loves Robots so much because they saved his entire family from a terrible accident when he was younger. Mirai also learns that Kento wants to create rescue Robots when he grows up so he can save others the same way his family was saved, and Mirai starts to admire Kento (although, not nearly as much as Yuuki does).

tokyo-magnitude-7-cThey depart again, and it starts to rain. They take cover under an odd green house full of frog toys and statues. The man who lives there lets them come inside, and for some reason leaves after inviting them in. Mari takes a nap, while Yuuki barfs and begins to rest up, still suffering from his fever. There is a slight tremor, but it’s not even big enough to wake Mari .. they are finally getting smaller and smaller. Yuuki’s resting lasts another 5 min and then he see’s a Robot roll by from the window and chases it. Yuuki touches the Robot, and then gets scolded by it (that’s what you get!). Yuuki see’s Kento chasing Robots AGAIN (k … the guy has a problem ..), but before he can pursue Mirai catches up and orders him to come back to the frog house.

However, right as they turn back they see a building collapse where Yuuki saw Kento running. Him and Mirai find Kento trying to save a Robot whose got his leg stuck under a bouldar. He pries the Robots leg free but loses his stepping and falls from the ledge .. just managing to grab hold of a lower ledge and saving himself from falling to his death over a silly robot.  Mirai orders Yuuki to go get Mari, and she climbs down to help Kento. She pulls him up, but the ledge she’s standing on falls and Kento manages to grab her. However, her leg is badly hurt and blood is gushing out.

The police show up and scold them, and so does Mari. Kento thanks Mirai for saving his life, but doesn’t seem to feel any remorse for endangering his own life as well as Mirai’s over saving a Robot. They finally depart and Kento makes a promise with Yuuki that they will meet again once Japan has been rebuilt. Mirai seems to have some sort of crush on the mad scientist, although she appears to be fighting it.

All seems to be well at the end of the episode, until Yuuki’s fever (which has been neglected thanks to all of the Robot chasing) finally get’s the best of him and he loses consciousness and collapses (well what did you expect?). This was actually a pretty cool episode, I wonder if they really have Robots like that in Japan? If they do, we should import some over to North America. They look really handy, wonder if I could program it to clean my apartment :)
