It seriously just keeps getting better in the 25th episode of Tears to Tiara entitled “Merkadis”. Arthur and his party encounters the “White Spirit” and he finds out that this is his Father’s true murderer. Arthur uses Dyrnwyn to dispell the lies of the tower and brings the enemies true face to light. The tower’s true dark form appears, and the garden in the sky is actually a graveyard full of corpses and skeletons form the past. This tower was built to be a crematory for the human race, as the white spirit explains that the end of the world is at hand and will burn by the mighty fires hidden beneath the tower.

The white spirit opens a passage to the sky world, and the end of the world begins. The skeletons are all brought back to life and attack. Arawn and friends battle their way through to the white spirit as the end of the world commences, with crazy lightning running across the sky. Even after reaching him they cannot land a single blow. The white spirit effortlessly dodges all attacks and seems to be invincible. Arthur charges him time and time again and finally manages to land the tiniest slash on the white spirits face.

The white spirit loses it and finally summons Merkadis .. a monstrous being hidden deep within the tower. This is the great fire the white spirit had talked about .. and is also what killed Arawn in the last war. This thing is MASSIVE and Ogam refers to it as the ultimate weapon of annihilation. It has obelisks dug into it’s entire body which are used to control it, however they all melt away and Merkadis is out of control. Even Ogam seems to be worried as Merkadis destroys the tower, causing Arthur and his companions to all fall as the tower crumbles.

Another unexpected but totally awesome surprise, Taliesin comes to the rescue? That’s right, he’s alive and he’s made a whole lot of dragon friends as he swoops in with a pack of them and grabs all of his allies in mid air. They burst out of the falling tower and Arthur looks at the world .. which is now covered in darkness with Merkadis ready to rampage.
