Another action packed up episode from the Book of Bantorra series, the 4th episode entitled “The setting sun, Shiron, and Colio” begins with Hamyuts facing off against Cigal, who has the antidote to dragon phenomia. Hamyuts is clearly 1000x more powerful, BUT there are several major handicaps in this fight which include:
- She has contracted Dragon Phenomia
- A strong storm has hit which greatly limits her sensory abilities
- Cigal posesses Shlamuffen
She doesn’t seem intimidated in the slightest despite these handicaps, and begins attacking Cigal with excitement. Shlamuffen of course puts up an automatic defense, and also strikes on it’s own will. As the battle goes on Hamyuts receives some major blows, and as the dragon phenomia sets in she finds it harder and harder to move. The fight moves to the top of a moving train (great action!) and Cigal cuts Hamyuts up big time, and knocks her off the train. Holding on with just one arm, Hamyuts Meseta dangles over the side of the train with Cigal stomping her hand with his boot. She slings a couple of her last stones onto the train track supports and the entire train flies off of the railing crashing into the land far below.
Meanwhile, Colio has went to Carthelo’s girlfriend Lea’s house and finds another fragment of Shiron’s book. Somehow Lea and Carthelo were able to communicate with Shiron, and even named their cat after her. Shiron tells Colio to fight, and Colio leaves to do just that .. even though he doesn’t know who or where.
Anyways, back to the main event ..I guess I shouldn’t be surprised but I was a little astonished to see Hamyuts fall an entire train like that .. it’s not like there were just meats aboard .. but real humans. Anyways, somehow Cigal & Hamyuts both survive the crash but Cigal is no longer armed with Shlamuffen. Game over .. or not. As Hamyuts goes to deliver the final blow, Shlamuffen automatically protects Cigal out of its own will (WTF?). Hamuyts can barely even breathe at this point, let a lone move, and it looks like this must be it for her.
Cigal prepares to land the final blow when Colio shows up? I’m not sure how he found them, or why he thinks this is the fight he must be involved in but he whips out a .. pocket knife? Cigal laughs at him and Hamyuts tells him to get lost, but Colio charges at Cigal with his tiny weapon drawn. In the moment right before Colio strikes the storm lifts and the sun shows itself briefly .. blinding Cigal. Colio runs his little blade through him, and Shlamuffen flies off destroying everything in the area including the large windmills, which come falling down on top of them.
After everything has settled Hamyuts lands the finishing blow on Cigal, and it looks like Colio is dead with a huge piece of the windmill piercing through him. Hamyuts collapses and a mysterious man comes and extracts Cigals book out of him. Back at the Library Hamyuts, Mattalast and Mirepoc are being treated for dragon phenomia, and now that they have the antidote there is no reason to worry. The episode ends off with an odd one sided conversation between Hamyuts and Volken. Volken says to himself that Vend Ruga is still alive and is inside of Olivia Litlet .. I’m not sure what that means but I’m guessing that Vend Ruga is one of the 7 special weapons. Volken steals he libraries aircraft and is headed off on his own mission.
This was a great episode .. the connection between Shiron and Colio is still a little hazy, but it looks like Shiron could see WAY into the future. Still, I don’t see why Colio is so attached to HER past. I really doubt that Colio is dead, as he is one of the main characters but I didn’t see him back at the Library. We’ll have to wait until next week to see what Volken is up to, and if Colio is fine!

yeah it’d be pretty disappointing if they killed off Colio just like that, although he looks pretty dead in his last appearance.
This series is very interesting, but I feel that too many things just keep coming out of the blue. Who’s that mystery old guy? or why has Volken taken off?

Yea I hear you TJ – super random so far but good nonetheless

Colio looked pretty dead to me I would be surprise if they brought him back to life.
Krisyoshi on October 26, 2009
yea he definitely looked dead .. maybe there’s a librarian with extreme healing techniques?

Its sad but I think that Colio is dead and will not reappear again in the series. I mean in the end they had the conversation about him so probably a book was extracted out of his body. And the librarian with extreme healing abilities seems kind of absurd.
Colio was the character of this arc. He was like the side character in any animes but this arc was mainly focused on him.
In the ending scene of this episode we could see Shiron and Colio for a moment so probably he is in heaven with her…
