The 5th episode of the Book of Bantorra series entitled “a betrayal, a cup, and a meandering path” put the brakes on the action and dived into the Mirepoc’s character.
Volken has betrayed the library and has stolen Ylucklucu, one of the 7 war machines. No one understands his motive, or what he plans to do but he has been labeled as a traitor. The majority of this episode is Mirepoc dealing with her feelings for Volken, as they had both grown up in the library together since they were kids. She is the typical by the book kind of gal, and he’s as straight edge as they come .. the perfect couple. But Mattalast tells her that if they catch him he will most likely be executed on account of treason against the library.
On a side note, the acting director sends Notoly to retreive Luimon’s book. She is a new librarian and this seems to be a fairly dangerous mission for her to tackle all alone.
Volken left behind a comic kind of book about a strange man named Lascall. This man travels the world and gathers books with a mysterious power. When girls who die without ever telling their lover their feelings, he delivers their books to them. One of the other librarians tells Mirepoc about a book deep within the library that she should read. Mirepoc goes to check it out, and it ends up just being a cheezy romance book .. but she accidently reads another book that shows Volken as a kid, and it springs a load of memories she has of growing up with Volken. We also get a look at the previous acting director, named Photona .. he looks way cooler than Meseta.
Mirepoc finds herself corned by 2 powerful monsters while trying to leave the library and almost gets killed. Mattalast thankfully was there to save her. Afterwards they go out for a drink and Mirepoc gets absolutely hammered. All wound up in a tight ball of emotion she goes to see the acting director, and pleads to let her use Argax – one of the 7 war machines that will erase your memory about anything you wish it to. It is only supposed to be used on criminals and people who have read sealed books, but the acting director makes an exception.
Mirepoc surprisingly goes for it, and her memories and feelings of Volken are erased. She’s back to her normal self the next morning .. except for the honey she takes in her tea.
Well, no mention at all of Colio Tonies in this episode. I’m joining the side that thinks he is dead, but I still think he may have some part to play somehow. Now that the Mirepoc drama is out of the way, hopefully we’ll be get to see what Volken is up to in next weeks episode.
