After last year’s Anime premiere of Batman:Gotham Knight, it was inevitable that Marvel jump into the game. Marvel has partnered with production company, Madhouse, in an effort to re-imagine some of their headlining characters (Iron Man, Hulk, Spider-Man, & Wolverine) for a series of four anime feature films. Madhouse is one of the top animation houses in Asia, having produced successful shows and movies like Paprika, Death Note, Ninja Scroll and Trigun. Of the four, only two have been announced: Wolverine and Iron Man. Writing these movies is comic book heavyweight, Warren Ellis. These teasers look pretty good, but it’s going to be interesting to see how fans react to these reimaginings. Iron Man is pretty much as he in the comics but Wolverine is a wild departure from what you see in the comics. The character has spent a fair amount of time in Japan since his creation, but not looking like this. The series will launch on the Japanese Animax channel in 2010. A US release is inevitable but has not been announced. These will most likely be released in North America straight to DVD around the same time as the Japanese launch.

Wow, ironman looks cool and all but Wolverine looks like something else.
Looking at it, that does not scream out Wolverine for me. For one thing, those claws are just odd and those muttonchops are waaaay to straight
Looks more like a villain than wolverine, what happened to the muscles?

Teaser trailers have come out for the Ironman and Wolverine animations.
I’m not a big comic book fan, but the Ironman teaser looks incredibly awesome. Wolverine looks like a stringy, mulleted methhead, but aside from that the teaser was pretty cool.
