It seems that James Cameron (Titanic, Terminator, Aqua man) is still looking at a film adaptation of the Battle Angel Alita manga (Yukito Kishiro).

The project has been in the works since 2006, and according to Cameron at the Entertainment weekly panel at Comic-Con International this Fri. it’s “something he’s looking at very seriously”.

However, Cameron’s got other projects on the go right now as well, including his current Avatar action film project (due in North America this this Dec.).

It’s been reported that Cameron wants to work on a smaller project after completing Avatar, so we might have a bit of a wait until we see the film adaptation of Battle Angel Alita completed.
